Efficient Drivetrains, Inc. and Ford Enter Hybrid Vehicle Patent License Agreement

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Efficient Drivetrains, Inc. (EDI), a global leader in advanced high-efficiency zero emissions hybrid and electric drivetrain solutions, today announced that EDI and Ford Motor Co. (Ford) entered into a license agreement for hybrid vehicle patents effective August 13, 2015. The license includes a portfolio of patents owned by the University of California (UC), which originates from the work of Dr. Andrew A. Frank, Ph.D., at the University of California-Davis (the Frank/UC Portfolio). Dr. Frank is a co-founder of EDI, the exclusive licensee to the Frank/UC Portfolio.

The terms of the license to Ford are confidential, but it includes an amicable resolution of all disputes related to the Frank/UC Portfolio.

EDI previously entered into an agreement regarding the portfolio with Toyota Motor Corp., finalizing that arrangement before entering into negotiations with Ford.
